Deaf center celebrates 10th anniversary in Okayama

The commemorative ceremony and the festival which commemorated establishment for 10 years of Okayama Prefecture Center for the Deaf located in western Japan were opened at the center on November 6.

Ando Miki, a Deaf woman and chief director the non-profit organization named MAMIE in Osaka, presented a lecture titled "Living with a hearing dog."

A program took place in the hall, such as support groups for the Deaf exhibited panels about their activities, a hard of hearing members performed hula dance in the afternoon and so on (photo).

The center offers a lecture to support independent living of Deaf/deaf persons and trains sing language interpreters, etc.
