First bowling meet to be held for Deaf and hearing in Himeji-shi

A National Deaf Bowling Tournament has taken place at Komatsu-shi, Ishikawa Prefecture in northeastern Japan since 2000. More participants join every year and about 100 people including pro bowlers gather from across Japan.

Other national bowling tournament played by Deaf and hearing persons together will be held for the first time in Himeji-shi, Hyogo Prefecture in western Japan on May 3.

Ota Takamasa (photo), 42, a professional bowler, residing in the city with his parents and daughter who are hard of hearing, organized the event. He says "Enjoying one another regardless of social environments is a motive power of the event."
