Prefecture to introduce tablet into prefectural facilities for effective communication with persons with disabilities

Hyogo Prefecture next to Osaka in western Japan is promoting utilization of an information terminal as one step to realize  "universal society". For persons who are Deaf/hearing loss, the application which helps easy communication by writing or texting via speech has been used for free of charge already. There is also an application to expand the Japanese character for weak-sighted persons to read.

Based on the situation that exclusive "free application" is enriched, Hyogo Prefecture will  introduce a tablet terminal in 235 prefecture facilities as a communication tool with the persons with disabilities in 2015.

Because of the use of a free application, about 11,000,000 yen appropriated for the budget at first will be the buying expenses of the terminal accounts for the most part as Prefecture officials explain.
