Disaster prevention administrative radio to be digitalized

Shimabara-shi in Japan's southern island will start to use a new disaster protection administrative radio system digitalized in April. The city has experienced Unzen-Fugendake eruption disaster in 1990-1991, intending to build a strong community against a natural disaster.

The city sends a text information by an e-mail and a cable TV (CATV) screen to each house receivers and registrant's cellular phones for Deaf persons as well as audio information through a loudspeaker in each city branch and "disaster prevention radio" of every household deployment, etc.
