The alumni association members of the Hokkaido Prefecture Muroran School for the Deaf visited the Muroran Gensen Institute for Deaf Children (室蘭言泉学園) in Bokoiminami-machi, Muroran-shi, and the private Muroran Institute for the Deaf-Mute (私立室蘭聾唖学院) monument built in the site on October 14, renewing deep emotion.
The private Muroran Institute for the Deaf-Mute which later changed to Muroran School for the Deaf was relocated near the its present location in 1936.
Since the alumni association became the 60th anniversary, it opted for erection of the monument and built in the site in July, 2012 by donations, etc. given from the whole country.
The general meeting and the memorial gathering were held in two days, October 13-14. The general meeting held on the first day in Noboribetsu Hot Spring was attended by 63 persons. The lecture and the social gathering were held after the officer election, and the participants stayed overnight in the hot spring.
On October 14, they visited the Muroran Gensen Institute and took the commemorative photo in front of the monument. The Institute was just repaired this year.
