Emperor and Empress visit Gifu Prefecture to attend the opening ceremony of the National Athletic Meet

The Emperor and Empress visited Gifu City, Gifu Prefecture on September 28 in order to attend the comprehensive opening ceremony of the 67th National Athletic Meet the next day.

They visited the Prefecture Museum of Fine Arts after arriving at JR Gifuhashima Station with the Shinkansen, and then the social welfare services facility which offers the persons with disabilities job training, etc.

His Majesty the Emperor spoke to those who were making a briefcase, "How long have you worked on the product?"

The Empress encouraged the hard of hearing woman by sign language.
